This is a simple Vazhakkai Jeera fry. It goes well with Sambar , Rasam, Mor Kulambu.

STEP BY STEP PICTURES
Peel the outer skin of Vazhakkai. Cut into thick pieces.Soak in water & wash it well in order to remove the stickiness from it.
Parboil the Vazhakkai & drain the water. Keep aside.
First grind Coconut,Dry red chilly to a fine paste. Then add Jeera,Onion and grind it roughly.
In a kadai heat oil & add sliced Onion,Ginger garlic paste (Optional)and fry it well.
Now add the vazhakkai .Fry for 3 mins. Then add the grounded paste.
Add 1/2 Cup of water,Turmeric powder,Salt.
Mix well & keep it covered & cook in medium flame for 5 mins.
Cook till all the water is absorbed. Keep turning in between to avoid getting burnt at the bottom of the kadai.
At last if you want you can add Coconut Oil for nice flavour.
