SNAKE GOURD KOOTU

      Snake Gourd kootu is similar to Chow chow kootu which I have posted already. It will not be spicy. This is an authentic Chettinad version for preparing Kootu.
This Kootu will be very mild so that you can mix with rice topped with Ghee.

INGREDIENTS

SNAKE GOURD
1 Cup
MOONG DHAL
¼ Cup
ONION
½
TURMERIC POWDER
¼ Tsp
SAMBAR POWDER
½ Tsp
SALT
To Taste

To Temper
URAD DHAL
½ Tsp
CUMIN SEEDS
½ Tsp
DRY RED CHILLY
1
GHEE
1 Tsp

Chop the Snake Gourd as shown above. (Half moon Shape).

In a vessel add 2 cups of water and allow it to boil. Then add the moong dhal. Cook it for 10 mins.

Now add the chopped Snake gourd & cook till it is done.

Add  the finely chopped onion .

Now add Turmeric powder,Sambar powder,Salt.

Allow it to boil till the raw smell goes out.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

Temper with the items given under "To Temper" table.
