I will tell you the secret to make tasty sambar which I learnt from my Mother-in-Law. After preparing the sambar just add a pinch of fenugreek(vendhayam) powder at last (i.e before garnishing).Surely your sambar will taste good. You can see the difference.This carrot sambar is very easy to prepare. It goes well with idly/dosai.

Pressure cook the dhals by adding a pinch of turmeric powder.
Chop onions,tomato,carrot.
Now add the carrots to the dhal & cook it for 1 whistle.
In a kadai heat oil add the items listed in "temper" table. Then add onions,tomato.Fry till it turns soft.Then add sambar powder,salt.
Now transfer the contents from pressure cooker into the kadai.
Add the tamarind extract and allow it to boil.
Transfer to a serving bowl. Add fenugreek powder. Granish it with coriander leaves.
Isn't so easy to prepare?
